Welcome to the small-small world of TURNER’S KINDERGARTEN, your child’s “home away from home.” Turner’s Kindergarten is a family-oriented childcare center that has been in existence in the same location for more than sixty (60) years. We strive daily to maintain the high standards, goals and values of our founder, the late Thelma H. Turner, to develop the whole child to the fullest extent of his/her potentials, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and educationally.

PHILOSOPHY
Turner’s Kindergarten believes that all children can accomplish a higher level of learning and academic achievement through unconditional love where rules are made to be kept. Children are the happiest and most secure when they know that they are in a loving environment and realize what is expected of them.
Self-discipline is a very important part of our school’s commitment. Without discipline, the childcare center ceases to be the kind of place that children (or parents) would want to attend. The philosophy and purpose of Turner’s Kindergarten is based on the principle:”Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is older, he will not depart from it.” We believe that this responsibility is directed to the parents, however, upon enrollment at Turner’s Kindergarten, we are in a concerted partnership with parents to foster early training in learning and living by this principle.
THE HOME
Proper training of a child first begins at home. The family is where the child learns his first patterns of behavior. The home should be the first place a chills is introduced to a personal relationship with spirituality, taught the importance of obedience to authority, respect for others and responsibility. Learning these values early in life will provide the best foundation for a child’s early childhood learning experiences to be happy and successful.

THE SCHOOL
It is our continued objective at Turner’s Kindergarten to provide an educational and physical environment that facilitates the development of a well-rounded child by utilizing a well-planned curriculum that integrates mental challenges, self-discipline, love and individualized instruction. It is also our goal to provide academic excellence to prepare each child from infancy to five years of age for his/her future.
We seek teachers who are totally committed to the needs of all children. We seek teachers who are qualified in early childhood educational growth and development, love children, treat them with dignity, and seek to be consistent in the development of self-discipline.
STATEMENT of NON-DISCRIMINATION
Turner’s Kindergarten admits children of any race, color, or national and ethnic origin, to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally according or made available to children at this center. Likewise, Turner’s Kindergarten does not discriminate in the administration of its educational or admission policies.
LICENSING and COMMUNITY GOALS
The center is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families and conforms to the state’s minimum standards for childcare programs. Turner’s Kindergarten certifies that it is a private, for profit organization, which opened in September, 1945, and thus, has over sixty years of uninterrupted service to the community as a childcare center.
PARENT COOPERATION
The kindergarten’s role is to assist parents in fulfilling their responsibility to educate their children. Parents are asked to support the philosophy of the school. If the philosophy of the school differs from that of the parent’s, there is a potential for conflict and confusion. You will always find the administrators at Turner’s Kindergarten ready to listen to any problems, concerns, or disenchantment that you might experience and we look forward to your suggestions and input to continue to make Turner’s Kindergarten an outstanding center.
Attendance at Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) meetings is expected of each parent. Children are their happiest when they know their parents are involved. PTA meetings are held monthly from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Every family is required to volunteer a minimum of two hours per month or twenty-four (24) hours per year. However, you are encouraged and welcomed to volunteer more than two hours per month. This specified time does not include fieldtrips. If you have more than on child at the center, you are only required to do the twenty-four hours per year. Parents are always welcome at Turner’s Kindergarten as we maintain an open-door policy.
